The Fizz will celebrate 40 years of hits with a brand new album in 2022.

The group, which won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1981 with Making Your Mind Up, are set to kick off the campaign for their latest record with producer Mike Stock.

Speaking to the launch issue of Retro Pop, the band reveals details of their first album since 2020’s Top 40 release ‘Smoke & Mirrors’, insisting the LP is their best yet.

While finer details remain under wraps, 10 tracks have been recorded, including a yet-to-be-revealed Paul McCartney cover.

While the group gets the final say on what makes the album, Stock masterminds the project and is taking the band in a “new direction,” with “a few different flavours”.

Also on songwriting duties is Cheryl Baker’s daughter Kyla Stroud aka LAKY, who penned recent tracks Amen and Storm.

The new song, Cheryl says, “brings in lines from old Bucks Fizz songs” and is a true celebration of the band’s legacy.

‘The radio is playing better run for your life…’ she sings, referencing Bucks Fizz’s 1983 hit from their third album, ‘Hand Cut’.
