Arriving six years after their eponymous fifth album, the new collection harkens back to the band’s earliest work, leaning on pop-tinged, singalong hooks reminiscent of singles such as Never Be Lonely and Fill My Little World.
Opener High Like You sets the tone for a set seemingly crafted to be performed live – no doubt inspired by Richard Jones’ appearances in Sophie Ellis- Bextor’s Kitchen Discos over the past two years – and kicks off the polished collection with a bang.
Lead single There Is No Music is an instant highlight not just from the set, but their discography as a whole, while Love People is a stomper of a track destined to bring fans together and celebrate unity.
The album segues between rampant pop numbers and more laid back, tender moments, exploring an array of thoughts and feelings intrinsic to the record.
On The Edge evokes moments of anxiety and desperation all too familiar, while Lost explores the struggles of grappling with one’s identity and place in the world.
It’s a process that comes to a head on For The Future, which concludes: ‘Life is in the air / It never really ends / It never quite begins / Just happens on the wind’
‘Loss. Hope. Love’ is a poignant offering, proving that 15 years into their career, The Feeling are still oozing inspiration and, six albums in, have plenty left to say.
