Stevie Nicks has released her cover of Buffalo Springfield’s For What It’s Worth.
The Fleetwood Mac frontwoman debuted her take on the sixties classic, penned by Stephen Stills, during her current US solo tour.
Revealing she recorded her take on the song in May 2022, she explained during her set at the Sea Hear Now Festival: “It’s a song that was written in 1966 by Stephen Stills.
“It was actually written about the riots on Sunset (Boulevard, Los Angeles),” the Dreams star added. “I just thought that, sometimes, music saves the world, and I thought this would be a good song for right now.”
The track is Stevie’s first solo release since her epic 2020 single Show Them The Way, which she shared ahead of the US election.
During Stevie’s summer 2022 shows, the singer-songwriter performed a career-spanning set, including solo hits and classics from the supergroup. She also dedicated 2010 album track Soldier’s Angel to the people of Ukraine.
Stevie Nicks’ US solo tour continues through October. Tickets are on sale now.
