Steps fans are convinced the group is set to release new music imminently after the band members shared what some believe to be cryptic social media posts.
The speculation began last week when singer Claire Richards took to Instagram to share a snap of herself at the hairdressers, in which she admitted: “Never have I ever needed my hair doing as much as I did this week.”
Although Claire insisted in a comment to an enquiring fan that she, “got my roots done because they were 4 inches long as it’s not been done since January,” further posts from Lisa Scott-Lee and Faye Tozer got tongues wagging earlier this week.
On her Instagram page, Lisa updated followers on her detox plan, and insisted she, “WILL get my officialsteps body back,” with many noting that she looked in pretty fine shape for a comeback.
And after returning home from a “chilled break”, Faye wrote on Twitter: “Zen before the storm… Hope you’re all good!! Happy Friyay.”
“Can’t wait to experience this storm in the forecast,” commented one fan, while another added, “Ooooo is that a hint??? Zen before the storm???”

Other Twitter users began to speculate on their pages, with Steps superfan @BListAtCapital writing: “Sat wondering what the future holds for pop music next week now we’re in Steptember [sic].”

There’s been no official confirmation from the group as yet regarding the new release, although they’ve previously confirmed everything was ready to go for new music before the Covid-19 lockdown was enforced.
“I can’t say anything official, but we’ve been working on stuff for the next chapter,” Faye teased during an Instagram Live chat with Strictly Come Dancing professional Janette Manrara in April. “So, let’s get this quarantine out of the way, so we can do some announcements.
The Scared Of the Dark singer added: “Lots of announcements coming. It’s really exciting and it was just so frustrating, because it was literally on the tip of our tongues just before we went on lockdown.
“We can’t wait, we’ve been so busy. Once we’re out, we’re gonna be out out!”
