Steps have given one final teaser for their new album – and it’s a massive ballad.
In a change of pace for the usually upbeat group, new promo track Hold My Heart is a sweeping piano ballad that allows each member to shine.
Following the massive Something In Your Eyes, the slow burner paves the way for their sixth LP, What The Future Holds – an album that’s set to showcase more variety than 2017’s Tears on the Dance Floor.
It’s a shift that was first teased in promo track Under My Skin, with the new tune holding up alongside Steps’ classic ballads When I Said Goodbye Heartbeat, with a chorus reminiscent of Britney Spears’ …Baby One More Time tune Born To Make You Happy.
“We all instantly fell in love with ‘Hold My Heart’ the first time we heard it. It’s a proper classic Steps ballad with amazing harmonies. We all got quite emotional recording it in the studio,” commented the group.
“It has a bit of a Lady A vibe to it and it really shows the mature side of the new album. While we all love an up-tempo banger, and there are PLENTY on the album, we wanted to show the opposite side to Something In Your Eyes with this latest teaser track.”
For those thirsty for more bangers, the Hold My Heart EP, which features all three previous releases, also has the brand new 7th Heaven mix of Something In Your Eyes, including a radio edit and near-six minute extended cut.
Pre-order the album What The Future Holds, released November 27th, on CD, pink vinyl, picture disc vinyl, and individual member cassettes here.
