Sophie Ellis-Bextor has teamed up with production duo The Alias on her new album, Songs from the Kitchen Disco.
The greatest hits record features all of Sophie’s most popular dancefloor classics, including Murder on the Dancefloor, Take Me Home, Bittersweet and Heartbreak (Make Me a Dancer), as performed during her hit lockdown live stream series, along with a bunch of new cover versions.
And after it was confirmed she’s set to support Steps on their 2021 What The Future Holds Tour, it was revealed that Sophie’s partnered with the production team behind hits like Scared of the Dark and new single What The Future Holds on her album.
Hannah Robinson, who performs backing vocals on Sophie’s new version of Alcazar’s Crying At The Discotheque, revealed on Twitter that The Alias produced the track – marking the first time the Murder on the Dancefloor star has worked with The Alias.

In addition to Steps and Sophie, The Alias have also worked with stars including Leann Rimes, Will Young and The Saturdays.
Cover versions on Songs from the Kitchen Disco include
New Order’s True Faith, Pulp’s Do You Remember The First Time? and The Sound of Music classic My Favourite Things.
A 2020 re-recording of the star’s first chart-topper, Groovejet (If This Ain’t Love), produced by Freemasons, is also included.
