Sigala and MNEK have shared their disco-inspired single Radio.
The track sees the DJ and vocalist offer the latest flavour of the former’s forthcoming second album ‘Every Cloud’, out this spring.
Speaking about working with MNEK, Sigala said: “I’ve followed his career since day one, when I was at uni. He’s somebody that I’ve always dreamed of working with.
“I spent about two hours making a beat, getting some nice chords, whilst he was just chilling. And then he was like, ‘OK, just play it through.’
“He’s on his phone, typing down lyrics, then he jumps on the microphone. And literally 20 minutes later, he had written pretty much the whole song – and the vocal is the one that he sang in two takes! Just incredible. I was honestly blown away.
“It was like being in the presence of true genius.”
On the style of the single, he added: “[It’s] something that I really wanted to keep true to; not overproduce it. It’s such a simple production, but it’s unique as well, with that offbeat bass going all the way through.
“It throws back to early 2000s and late ‘90s stuff, and even disco.”
‘Every Cloud’ featuring the singles Melody, Stay The Night with Talia Mar and Living Without You with David Guetta and Sam Ryder – is out March 3 and available to pre-order now.
Last year, Sigala opened up to RETROPOP about his love of nineties house music, revealing: “I grew up in the ‘90s. I’m a ‘90s baby, so I was around all that stuff when I was very young. The whole rave culture and trance and stuff like that.
“My knowledge of it isn’t really that good, but it’s in there somewhere… Those sounds and those feelings and that era of music definitely inspires me.”
He added: “There’s something about that era of music. It just always sounds good and it always has, through the 2000s and even now.
“Those piano house songs, they live on. And yeah, there’s something cool about that.”
