Shania Twain was stunned by the popularity of her second album, The Woman In Me.
The music legend made her debut in 1993 with her self-titled record, featuring the singles Dance With The One That Brought You and What Made You Say That, but it was her 1995 follow-up that saw her career blow up.
Featuring hits including Any Man of Mine, Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under, If You’re Not In It For Love (I’m Outta Here) and You Win My Love – and speaking to Fox News, she admits she’s still astounded by its success.
“I certainly had no idea during the making of The Woman In Me that it would be such a pivotal moment in my life and in my career,” Shania explains.
“It changed everything. I had no idea what to expect as far as if it would succeed at all and then when it did start to succeed, of course [I had] no idea that it would come to this – 25 years later I would be celebrating a diamond edition.”
The re-release, which dropped on Friday, comes in 2- and 3-disc editions, comprising the original album, plus extra discs of bonus material. Alongside the remastered original album, a second disc features live versions and alternate mixes, with a third collection of ‘Shania’s Vocal Mixes’.
“I’m just really grateful. I mean, wow,” Shania adds. “At the time, when it was happening, when I was starting to experience success with that album, I got so busy that I couldn’t even celebrate the successes in the moment. So it’s only now that I’m really celebrating what was going on then.”
