Shakira is back with her brand new single Don’t Wait Up.
The star has been busy in the studio cooking up new music and has released the first track from her latest project, calling the tune “a song that I’ve been waiting to write for a long time”.
“This is actually heaven sent, I think, because really, it has been in my mind and it has already existed for a while inside of me,” she tells Zane Lowe on New Music Daily on Apple Music 1.
The track was co-written with Ian Kirkpatrick and Emily Warren, who also penned Don’t Start Now, the lead single from Dua Lipa’s 2020 album ‘Future Nostalgia’.
“When we were at the studio, we were just feeling the instant chemistry and the magic happening,” says Shakira. “And we were looking at each other saying, ‘Oh my God, this is something really, really special’.”
The She Wolf star recently confirmed a music video has been shot for the track, and teased she’s “on full throttle, doing a lot of songs”.
She added: “Songs will continue to come out throughout this year that will end up on an album that I think will be available next year.”
