For the first time in its 35-year history, RuPaul will take to the stage at Brighton & Hove Pride for a live DJ set in the Icons slot on Saturday, August 2.
News of the ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ star’s appearance was confirmed in an Instagram post on Friday (February 6), with the ‘Supermodel (You Better Work)’ hitmaker sharing a video on the platform.
RuPaul’s appearance is a part of the Pride on the Park fundraiser, which raises money for local LGBTQ+ charities, community initiatives and cultural programmes, totalling more than £1.5 million to date.
So far, organisers have confirmed two major headliners for this year’s event; chart-topping singer-songwriter RAYE tops Saturday’s bill, while global superstar Diana Ross will close out the event on Sunday, August 3.
Paul Kemp, Managing Director, said: “As we proudly celebrate 35 years of Brighton & Hove Pride, we look ahead to an unforgettable weekend that honours the power of love in all its forms. This year promises to be truly momentous – a joyous celebration of inclusivity, unity, and pride, and one we cannot wait to share with you.”
