Martin Kemp’s son Roman is less than impressed with the Spandau Ballet star’s moves on the dance floor.
The Capital FM DJ spoke to the Daily Mirror ahead of the launch of their father-son TV show, Martin and Roman’s Sunday Best.
The programme pits the two against each other in challenges designed to bring out their competitive side, and Roman is feeling confident he’ll come out on top most of the time.
“When I was a kid, I always lost to him at Fifa on the PlayStation,” he said. “Then age kicked in and I started storming it. He hated it.
“Now I beat him at everything. Well, almost everything. Not music – he’s a great musician and that’s his strong point.
“He’s good at old, weird general knowledge and could beat me at brute strength,” Roman said of the True hitmaker. “And if there’s anything that involves putting up a picture or handyman skills, Dad smacks it out the park.”
However, when it comes to the ideal challenge to triumph over his dad, Roman’s hoping for a dance-off.
“He’s the worst dancer on the planet,” he laughed. “He puts one hand in his jeans pocket but leaves one thumb out.
“He raises his other hand up in the air and does a peace sign. And, as if his hand is his head, he nods the peace sign along with the music and slowly taps his foot. Awful.”
Martin and Roman’s Sunday Best kicks off June 14 at 8:30 am UK time on ITV.
