“Kemp will cover leading the New Romantics, his adventures with Spandau Ballet, the heady nights out at the Blitz, and Live Aid as well as many other memorable moments.
“From friendships with George Michael, Sade and Boy George to living under Thatcher.”
The Gold hitmaker says: “I am a huge fan of, and have read many books on the 80s, so when I decided to write this book I knew I wanted it to be the best book it can be. I know first-hand what really happened in those bars and on tour.
“I plan to take you back to where it all began, when we were just kids having fun, when we knew that we were part of something bigger, and we also knew that life could never be the same again.
“I want this to be the book the most honest account of that time.”
“Martin is one of the most recognisable faces of the 80s,” adds Ajda Vucicevic, publishing director at HarperNonFiction. “This is a story about how this romantic decade helped shape our culture, society and life. It was a time of hardship, but also opportunities, and Martin not only lived it but helped create it.
“I am really excited to be publishing ‘Ticket to the World’ this autumn.”
‘Ticket to the World: My 80s Story’ is out November 10 and available to pre-order now.
