Martin Kemp was left blushing on last night’s Celebrity Gogglebox when he was made to realise supermarkets haven’t in fact been closed for the past three months.
The Spandau Ballet is appearing on the show along with son and Sunday Best co-host Roman, when he DJ asked his dad what he’d missed most during lockdown.
“I would like to go into… just like… confectionary,” Martin said, much to the amusement of Roman, who burst out laughing.
As Roman tried to figure out whether his dad was being serious, or if he just didn’t know what he’d said, he asked “What did you think confectionary was?”
“I know what it is,” replied an embarrassed Martin. “I was just thinking, ‘Ooh a sweet shop’.”
“They’ve been open the whole time, you idiot!” added Roman, still laughing.
“Oh f**k off. You go where you want to go,” fired the Gold hitmaker, to which Roman hysterically replied: “You’re a 55-year-old man!
‘What do you want to buy?’ ‘I don’t know, sweets’,” he reenacted. “What do you want a Mars bar? I’ll buy you a Mars bar, don’t worry.”
A defeated Martin conceded:”I don’t go out of the house much.”
“Yeah, I can tell,” replied Roman.
