Mariah Carey almost had fans cancelling their Thanksgiving plans on Monday after sharing a string of cryptic posts on Twitter.

The diva is currently celebrating 30 years since the release of her debut album with the hashtag #MC30 by releasing digital EPs, coloured vinyl albums and her new memoir, The Meaning of Mariah Carey, which drops 29 September.

Taking to Twitter, the hitmaker began to cryptically tease details from the book – but ended up having to offer an explanation as her messages were lost in translation.

In all caps, Mariah first wrote, “THANKSGIVING IS CANCELLED,” with her followers flocking to the comments to discuss the posts. “GIRL WHAT HAPPENED,” wrote one, while others insisted her account had been hacked.

In the same thread, the Don’t Forget About Us star wrote four more posts that read, “THERE CAN BE MIRACLES,” “CALAMITY AND DOG HAIR,” “RESTING IN PIECES,” and finally “ONE SUMMER NIGHT, WE RAN AWAY FOR A WHILE…”

While her followers continued to ponder the posts may relate to songs for a new album, or that she was working on a new Christmas album and wanted to rush by Thanksgiving, Mariah returned to reveal the speculation was way off the mark.

“C’mon, I could never cancel Thanksgiving,” she penned. “I just wanted to share a few chapter titles from my memoir.”

Mimi has been teasing the publication during recent interviews and told Vulture she doesn’t hold back in the memoir. She explained: “I cried writing a lot of parts of this book. Maybe it’s because I have such vivid recollections

“You know what? I’m sure I’m going to have to deal with a lot of people being upset with me.”
