Mariah Carey has released a new version of her classic single The Roof featuring Brandy.
Re-titled The Roof (When I Feed The Need), the track originally featured on the diva’s ‘Masterclass’ episode and is included on the 25th anniversary edition of her 1997 album ‘Butterfly’.
“I poured into every lyric and every note on every song,” says Mariah. “25 years later, it’s still one of the proudest moments of my life & career.
“To celebrate #Butterfly25, I’m releasing new remixes, live performances, acapellas & a new version of ‘The Roof’ with the one and only @4everBrandy!”
Brandy adds: “Love you @mariahcarey – so honored, overjoyed, and humbled to be a part of a body of work that changed my life. #Butterfly25.”
The diva’s classic fifth album was originally released in 1997 and features the hit singles Honey and My All – both of which topped the Billboard Hot 100.
“I will never forget the day I released this album to the world,” Mariah tweeted of the project. “I had never felt more exposed and vulnerable yet free and euphoric at the same time.
“It was a true EMANCIPATION (no pun intended!) of my spirit, soul and innermost feelings which I poured into every lyric and every note on every song.
“25 years later, it’s still one of the proudest moments of my life & career.”
Included in the celebrations is a deluxe reissue of the LP with eight bonus tracks from the ‘Butterfly’ sessions, with the album to be issued on 2LP and 4LP gold vinyl – featuring remixes – and cassette.
