Marc Almond has released Gone With The Wind (Is My Love) as the latest single from his forthcoming album ‘I’m Not Anyone’.
Due June 12, the track – a cover of Rita & The Tiaras’ ’60s soul classic – is given a new, cabaret-inspired perspective by the Soft Cell frontman, who has reworked 11 classic songs for the set.
It has an unlikely connection to the singer; the song was originally performed by Gloria Jones, who also performed the original Tainted Love, but her version didn’t surface for several decades.
Marc: “This is what I call a wind machine song, an intense emotional rush of ‘60s soul drama.”
Of the wider set, he adds: “More than ever this time I’ve gone for how a song makes me feel and the emotional resonance it holds – reflective songs for an older artist, perhaps.”
