Madonna and her son David have performed a live rendition of Elton John’s classic Your Song in support of the citizens of Ukraine.
The Queen of Pop took to Instagram with her stripped back version of the song, performed on piano by her teenager.
“Music does make the people come together,” she says in an Instagram video, “as President Zelensky said so eloquently last week on the Grammys, and so my son David Banda and I would like to offer this gift of song to you — one of our favorite songs — in hopes that we can inspire people all around the world to stand up and support the people of the Ukraine.”
“Artists are here to disturb the peace!! — We stand up for Ukraine and we need World Leaders to do the same,” Madonna added in the caption of the post.
“Immediate action is needed to help displaced people from Ukraine. Share this video, post your own or donate (link in bio) #StandUpForUkraine.”
In response, Elton praised the star, writing: “Thank you @Madonna for using this cover of Your Song to raise awareness for #StandUpForUkraine.”
