Louise was due to appear in Friends – but turned down the opportunity in favour of a Top of the Pops appearance.
During her socially-distanced gig at London’s Clapham Grand on Friday night, the 2 Faced star told fans she had been tapped to appear in the sitcom as Ross’ (David Schwimmer) wife Emily but opted to perform her hit Naked on the esteemed show instead.
She explained to host Richie Anderson at the event: “I didn’t have a lot of time and a lot of people were investing money into the album.
“To be on Top Of The Tops with that single meant a lot to me,” Louise added. “Back in the day Top Of The Pops was huge.”
Once Louise dropped out, the role went to British actress Helen Baxendale, who played Emily for 14 episodes for one year from 1997 and ended up in a love triangle with Ross and Rachel (Jennifer Aniston).
During the show, which was also live streamed, Louise performed tracks from her latest album Heavy Love and classic Eternal hits. The Stretch hitmaker was due to promote the album with a UK tour, but her plan torpedoed by the coronavirus.
It’s not all bad news, though – she recently revealed that, during lockdown, she’s been hard at work on its follow-up.
