Former One Direction star Liam Payne was honoured with a touching tribute at the 2025 BRIT Awards on Saturday (March 1) night.
The singer died at the age of 31 after falling from a third floor balcony at a hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina last October, after which Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan and Zayn Malik all honoured their late bandmate.
During this year’s ceremony – which saw Charli XCX dominate the night with four big wins – host Jack Whitehall remembered the Strip That Down hitmaker, calling him “a very special person who meant so much to so many of the people in this room and to millions of you around the world”.
He added: “Last October, we woke to the devastating news that Liam Payne had tragically passed away. He achieved so much in the short time that he was on this Earth, and was not only a supremely gifted musician, but an incredibly kind soul who touched the lives of everyone he came into contact with.”
Fans were quick to react to the tribute, admitting the segment “brought tears to [their] eyes” and writing that the moment was “actually too much”, adding: “[They] only had to say his name for the tears to start streaming.”
