Liam Gallagher says he was just having “a laugh” when he told fans Oasis had a new album on the way.
The rocker is set to reunite with his brother Noel next year for a global run of shows celebrating the band’s 30th anniversary, marking their first performances together since 2009.
On social media, he has been hinting at new material from the band, having previously claimed that the pair have already completed a record.
Back in September, Liam teased their new songs when a fan on X asked: “Is it true that Oasis will have a new album???” He replied: “Yep it’s already finished.”
The Wonderwall hitmaker reiterated the claims when asked if a new album was “in the air”, insisting: “It’s in the bag mate fuck the air”.
In another recent exchange, Liam spoke of the quality of the new material, when a fan asked: “What do you think of Noel’s new songs he’s written for Oasis?” He simply responded: “Blown away.”
However, he has since dismissed his earlier comments, saying there’s “no Oasis album in the making” while responding to a fan account that claimed he and Noel were “working intently” on a new album,
Liam said: “I was fucking joking remember them and the reason being because everyone is a little uptight these days I’m sorry if I have upset anyone but fuck me it was a laugh.”
In response to a fan who said the reunion is “enough”, Liam added: “Exactly people always want more let’s just get in a big stadium and go ape shit and see what happens after that you with me or what”. When another fan questioned “why not?”, he stated: “I’m busy”.
