Lana Del Rey wrote one of her classic album tracks for the James Bond franchise – but it got rejected.
Back in 2015, the US singer-songwriter wrote the song 24 for possible inclusion on the soundtrack to the James Bond film ‘Spectre’, but the track was turned down in favour of Sam Smith’s Writing’s On The Wall.
Asked by the BBC at The Ivors 2024 in London on Thursday (May 23) why she hasn’t performed a Bond theme yet, she said: “I mean, how has that not happened?”
Singing an acapella snippet of 24, she revealed, “I wrote that for them”, before admitting she often does “my little Nancy Sinatra thing every now and then and just pretend it’s the title track.”
Lana received the Special International Award prize at the star-studded ceremony, which also saw Bruce Springsteen become the first American artist to receive the Academy Fellowship.
He previously said he was honoured by the recognition, adding: “This entire country has made me feel welcome every step of the way, and for this, I will always remain deeply appreciative.”
