Lady Gaga has hit No. 1 on the US Billboard Hot 100 with her Bruno Mars collaboration, Die With A Smile, tying Michael and Janet Jackson‘s historic chart feat in the process.

The track finally reached the summit this week, almost five months after its release, with the feat seeing Gaga join the Jackson siblings as one of only three acts to have a No. 1 hit on the chart across three separate decades.

Michael achieved the milestone in the ’70s, ’80s, and ’90s, while Janet did it in the ’80s, ’90s, and ’00s.

Taylor Swift announces 12th studio album The Life Of A Showgirl

In a post on social media, the Born This Way hitmaker celebrated the landmark No. 1, writing: “Thank you to all of the monsters and hooligans for helping make “Die With A Smile” #1 on the Billboard Hot 100! We love you and are so grateful.

“Having multiple songs of mine hit #1 across three decades feels surreal, and I am overwhelmed by the love and support you have shown me from the beginning. I have so much more in store for you and can’t wait to share it.”

The song is set to feature on Gaga’s forthcoming seventh studio album, which also includes the single Disease, which also returned to the Hot 100 this week.

Speaking about the album last year, the singer described the record as an “exercise in chaos”, sharing: “To me, there’s some kind of chaos in all of the ways we try to analyse ourselves.

“Disease is the beginning of that, and it started with this little voice on my shoulder saying, ‘There’s no more tears to cry, I heard you begging for life’, and that uncomfortable feeling that we can sometimes have when the voice in our head is not pleasant.”

Adding that she was “trying to push as much sound as possible” with the album, the Poker Face star shared her intent to capture the feeling of struggling “to see the light” through the music.

“There’s other moments where it’s all about love, and it’s super dreamy,” she added. “That, to me, is true chaos. There are times when it’s hard to see the light, but I think sometimes what makes inner chaos harder is when you sometimes get a glimpse of the sun, because you’re like, ‘Man, I wish the sun would shine all the time’, and then it reminds you of what you’re missing.

“So the album has all of that. It’s like a full experience.”

Gaga recently opened up about her new record, teasing: “The pop album is nothing like ‘Chromatica’. It’s a completely different record. I don’t know that I’m even ready to talk about it yet, but it’s coming out soon, and I will.

“What I would say is, it’s all for me. It’s meant to be ingested as a time in my life. And I’m also really excited about this idea that I don’t have to adhere to an era if I don’t want to. I can have a few going at once.

“That feels unhinged and more like me or Harley. Or whoever.”
