Kylie Minogue’s is proving she’s the ultimate DIY queen as she takes on engineering duties for her upcoming 15th studio album.
The Aussie pop princess is currently working on the follow-up to 2018’s country-disco album, Golden, and, according to BMG president Alistair Norbury, the star’s getting very hands-on.
Explaining Kylie was hard at work during lockdown, he told Music Week: “Kylie Minogue is learning to use (music software) Logic.
“She’s got herself a home studio and decided that, if there’s one thing she can do during this time, it’s to learn to engineer and record her own vocals.
“So with some Zoom lessons and plenty of input from (BMG VP, A&R) Jamie Nelson, Kylie’s learning to get herself to a place where she can be creative during this time.”
Prior to lockdown, Kylie was working with German producer Mousse T and Italian DJ Alex Gaudino. She’s also worked with frequent Madonna collaborator, French producer Mirwais.
Kylie previously confirmed she’d been back in the studio and, after revisiting her greatest hits on last year’s Step Back In Time compilation set, she recently teased, “I feel a bit of disco coming on next.”
She also told Daily Star that she felt inspired by the Studio 54 section of her Golden Tour, hinting “that’s where I would go at this point.”
