Kim Wilde is back with her epic new single Trail Of Destruction.
The latest release from the British pop icon is the first to be lifted from her forthcoming album ‘Closer’, due January 31, 2025.
In an announcement, Kim said (via Cherry Red Records): “I wanted a connection to Stone from my ‘Close’ album in 1988 as well as referencing Jack Black’s 60’s referencing “Sticking it to the man” speech from ‘School Of Rock’.
“Stone was a protest about the “man” taking ownership of our planet and not keeping their promises to stop messing it up. Trail Of Destruction is a protest for a new generation.”

Alongside the single release, Kim confirmed further details of her new album, which clocks in at 10 songs and features collaborations with Midge Ure and her niece, Scarlett Wilde.
Speaking to RETROPOP, the Kids In America singer referred to the record as as a “sister” to the ‘Close’ LP, which delivered smash hits like Hey Mister Heartache, You Came, Never Trust A Stranger, Four Letter Word and Love In The Natural Way.
“It really is a sister album to ‘Close’ in many, many ways,” she explained. “It has the same diversity, the same sort of eclectic storytelling. Obviously, there’s a big emphasis on personal things and love and bigger themes.
“There’s dance on it. There’s rock on it. It’s as diverse as the ‘Close’ album and we really used that as a blueprint. It’s very evident and I can’t wait for people to hear it!”
In support of the album, Kim will embark on a tour of the UK throughout March 2025.
‘Closer’ is out January 31, 2025 and available to pre-order here.
