Kesha marked 15 years since the release of her debut album, ‘Animal’, with a reflective post on social media.
Released on January 5, 2010, the LP launched the singer to the top of the global charts with hits including Blah Blah Blah, Take It Off, Your Love Is My Drug, and the massive TiKToK.
Taking to Instagram, the hitmaker shared a series of throwback photos and videos, writing: “I spent my whole life learning the art of songwriting from my mom (Pebe Sebert), an iconic songwriter herself, so when Animal came out, it was a culmination of the sounds of growing up, the sounds of falling in love, heartbreak, the sounds of coming of age.
“I had no idea what these songs would open up for me and what kind of life I would be creating for myself just by putting these songs out in the world. I’m so happy I did, and so happy you’ve connected to it the way that you have, and continue to do so.”
Pointing out that Tik Tok had returned to the top of the streaming charts after she performed the tune on ‘Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve With Ryan Seacrest’, she added: “Just goes to show that we all go through these same pivotal feelings and emotions growing up.
“I’m so happy to have grown up with all of you,” Kesha concluded. “Happy anniversary Animal. I had no idea you were that bitch. But turns out you totally are.”
It comes after Kesha launched her own record label, Kesha Records, in 2024, following a long-running legal dispute with producer Dr. Luke, and returned to pop with her single JOYRIDE.
Alongside the release of follow up DELUSIONAL, the hitmaker promised to release new music this year.
