Janet Jackson will release new music before the end of the year with her 12th album due in 2022.
The singer was slated to release her latest LP ‘Black Diamond’ back in 2020, when she was also due to hit the road with an accompanying live tour.
However, the pandemic saw her plans stalled, with neither new music nor the live dates coming into fruition.
According to Rolling Stone, a new single from the Nasty hitmaker will arrive by the end of this year via her label, Rhythm Nation Records, with a full album to follow.
No additional details were revealed about the forthcoming single, although Janet did reveal production credits for the album, which marks her first full-length project since 2015’s ‘Unbreakable’.
The record will see the music legend reunite with production duo Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, and will feature collaborations with Darrel Randle, Earth, Wind & Fire’s Ralph Johnson, Siedah Garret and Marcel East.
2022 will also see Janet celebrate 40 years since the release of her self-titled debut album with the two-part documentary ‘Janet.’.
The singer’s forthcoming project has been in the works for five years – following the release of her most-recent album ‘Unbreakable’ – and was largely filmed around the time of the death of her father Joe in 2018.
