Jack Savoretti returns with the lead track from his upcoming seventh studio album, the Nile Rodgers produced Who’s Hurting Who.
The star’s latest bop comes two years after his last LP ‘Singing to Strangers’, which saw Jack collaborate with Kylie Minogue on Music’s Too Sad Without You, also included on her 14th studio release ‘Golden’.
And while that album explored pop sounds on tracks like Youth & Love, the singer-songwriter goes direct to the dance floor on Who’s Hurting Who.
“Nile brings groove, glamour and chic that is everything that Europiana is,” says Jack. “’Europiana’ wouldn’t exist without Nile Rodgers!”
The tune is the lead track from his latest record ‘Europiana’, which was conceived in between lockdowns at Jack’s Oxfordshire home.
“’Europiana’ isn’t a sound. It’s references and inspirations and the emotions they evoke,” adds the star. “It’s the music of my childhood summers, remade for today.”
Produced by Cam Blackwood, ‘Europiana’ was recorded at London’s Abbey Road Studios and features John Oates on When You’re Lonely. His parts were recorded remotely from Nashville.
The Candlelight hitmaker muses: “’Singing to Strangers’ was my first album that wasn’t all about me, which I loved. ‘Europiana’ pushes that further. There are more characters and bigger concepts. I’m looking out at the world, not inwards.
“For weeks we literally lived Europiana,” he continues. “The band would arrive and I’d make a big lunch, eaten outside with loads of rose. Then we’d go inside to write in what is usually my living room but it became a studio. The sun and fun seeped into the songs.”
‘Europiana’ is available to pre-order on CD and Vinyl from Amazon. Signed CD copies are also available.
