Girls Aloud will come together to host a fundraising gala in memory of their late bandmate Sarah Harding.
The singer passed away in September 2021 following a battle with breast cancer and the Primrose Ball will help raise money for the Christie NHS Foundation Trust and Cancer Research UK, as part of the Sarah Harding Breast Cancer Appeal.
Taking place on October 8 with guests including Years & Years’ Olly Alexander, Pretenders’ Chrissie Hynde and Kaiser Chiefs singer Ricky Wilson performing, the event will be fronted by Nicola Roberts, Kimberley Walsh, Nadine Coyle and Cheryl.
The ball was set up at the request of Sarah and named after the Girls Aloud track The Promise, in which she sings: ‘Here I am, walking primrose.’
“We are so grateful to The Londoner for hosting the Primrose Ball at their wonderful hotel,” said the band in a statement.
“Charles Oak, hotel director of The Londoner, and Sarah had a very special bond, and holding her gala evening there will make the night even more special.
“Our hope is to raise a huge amount of money that will hopefully prevent other people finding themselves in the same terrifying situation Sarah found herself in.”
Girls Aloud took part in a Race For Life in Sarah’s honour in July, raising funds for the non-profit that seeks to fund research to identify new ways to predict which young women are likely to develop the disease and ensure people can be identified as early as possible.
