Gabrielle took over Saturday night TV with her recent stint on ‘The Masked Singer’ and, after performing other artists’ songs on the show, she’s revealed the big-name stars she’d love to work with.

Speaking to Retro Pop, the Rise hitmaker admits she’s a massive fan of Say You Won’t Let Go hitmaker James Arthur and would love to sing with ‘The X Factor’ winner – but fears her “insecurities” would get in the way of a future collaboration.

The Overtones reveal surprise dream collaborator: ‘It would be cool to do something edgy’

“I love James Arthur,” gushes Gabrielle. “He did that song with Anne-Marie [Rewrite The Stars] and, when I heard them sing together… I’ve got my jealous pants on!

“I love him, but I think I’m actually happy if I never work with anyone, because I’m easily intimidated.

“All these people that I love, they’ve just got incredible voices. I would probably just be quiet… just because of my own insecurity.”

She adds: “I totally love him, but I’m happy to watch him from afar. I watched him last year at The O2 just before we went into lockdown. It was crazy, like 17,000 people. It was fabulous to watch because he’s flippin’ amazing.

“I’m old enough to be his mum, but that voice – you just fall in love with that voice.”

The Out of Reach star also names Harry Styles as one of her favourite acts, with his recent single Falling making the cut for her new LP, ‘Do It Again’.

“I love Harry Styles,” she continues. “Lizzo and him did that amazing song together [Juice live] and I’m like, ‘Oh, flippin’ heck’.

“The amount of times I’ve watched reruns of just him coming on stage and her doing her thing and I’m like, ‘Ahhh’.”

‘Do it Again’ is Gabrielle’s seventh studio album and features ten cover versions – five of which she performed on ‘The Masked Singer’ – plus two original tracks, including recent single Stop Right Now.

It’s not the star’s only new music – she recently told Retro Pop she has a second album of original tracks, written during lockdown, ready for release.

“During lockdown, I’d been writing new material, and I was going to come up with a brand new album,” shared the Dreams singer. “My last album, ‘Under My Skin’, came out in 2018, and had such a good response that I thought I was on a roll.”

While her stint on ‘The Masked Singer’ encouraged Gabrielle to quickly record her latest effort, she insists it won’t be long until she’s back with her eighth LP.

“[‘Do It Again’ is] a little taster of what’s to come,” she teased. Let’s just say I don’t think we’re going to be waiting too long. The days of waiting for me for like 11 years are over.”

‘Do It Again’ is available to pre-order now, with exclusive signed CDs available from the artist’s store.
