FLO have unveiled their epic Missy Elliott collaboration Fly Girl.
The trio — starring Renée Downer, Stella Quaresma, and Jorja Douglas — shared their latest single this week, bringing old school R&B vibes with a little help from the hip-hop superstar.
“Fly Girl is all about confidence, good vibes, and feeling your best,” FLO said in a statement. “It’s a lively, feel-good song that still incorporates clever lyrics and fire vocals, if we do say so ourselves.”
In addition to featuring vocals from the rapper, Fly Girl also references Missy Elliott’s hit Work It in the intro along with lyrics in the chorus.
Alongside the track, the girls have shared a fierce visual that sees the trio channel female independence at a feelgood party.
FLO were named as one of RETROPOP’s Ones to Watch in our 2023 Introducing… feature and, speaking exclusively in the January 2023 issue, the trio opened up about the artists that influence their sound.
“We love Brandy, Aaliyah, Destiny’s Child, Victoria Monet – music our mums were listening to when we were young,” they shared, before teasing plans for the year ahead.
“Our headline show at Outernet in March we really can’t wait for and summer festival season will be here in no time,” they beamed. “Watch this space RETROPOP… we’ve got lots coming for you!”
