Erasure will release their latest album ‘Day-Glo (Based on a True Story)’ this summer.
Due August 12, the LP features 10 brand new tracks, incorporating elements of their previous record ‘The Neon’ for a collection “that is both familiar and unexpected,” according to a press release.
Beginning the process, Vince Clarke began manipulating files for tracks from their 2020 effort and soon developed new songs from the original source material.
'Day-Glo – Based On A True Story', Vince and Andy's radical reimagining of 'The Neon', is an unexpected album of new material created using elements from 'The Neon' to produce a ten-track album that is both familiar and unexpected. 🧡

Once his work was complete, Andy Bell took the tracks into the studio and, working with long-time collaborator Gareth Jones, began recording on his parts.
“Although undoubtedly Erasure, a sense of improvisation permeates the tracks as Bell worked on vocals that built, through collage, into the finished album,” a press release states.
“The final album bears little resemblance to the original source material – although echoes of The Neon can be heard from time to time – instead the album is an alternative look at Vince and Andy’s world, something that could only have been created when the artists were confronted with circumstances that allowed a little introspection to create something entirely new.”
It marks the final release in the band’s latest era, which saw their 18th studio LP peak at No. 4 in the UK – Erasure’s highest chart placement in almost three decades.
In our review of ‘The Neon’, Retro Pop called the album “a masterclass in synth-pop” and “a triumphant effort that ranks high in Erasure’s 35-year legacy”.
‘Day-Glo: Based On A True Story’ is available to pre-order now.
