Elton John has scored his first UK No. 1 single in 18 years with the Dua Lipa collaboration Cold Heart
The track topped the charts on Friday, marking his first UK chart-topper as a lead artist since 2003 release Are You Ready for Love with Ashley Beedle.
“We did it – UK NUMBER 1,” tweeted the music legend. “I cannot begin to tell you how much this means to me…
You’ve made me feel infinitely better after my surgery and I can’t wait for you to hear the whole of ‘The Lockdown Sessions’ when it comes out next week!#coldheart #thelockdownsessions

“Thank you @DUALIPA, @pnau and to everyone who streamed, downloaded, and listened to Cold Heart!”
He added: “You’ve made me feel infinitely better after my surgery and I can’t wait for you to hear the whole of ‘The Lockdown Sessions’ when it comes out next week!”
Cold Heart dethrones Ed Sheeran’s Shivers, which spent four weeks at the top of the chart after overtaking his previous hit Bad Habits.
However, there’ll no doubt be no bad feelings between the pair, as Ed and Elton are planning to team up on a new Christmas single.
Before then, Elton will release ‘The Lockdown Sessions’, featuring collaborations with Stevie Nicks, Dua Lipa, Lil Nas X and more.
The single Finish Line, featuring Stevie Wonder, is out now.
‘The Lockdown Sessions’, out October 22, is available to pre-order on CD, vinyl and cassette.
