Elton John is a huge fan of Rina Sawayama’s forthcoming album. 

The Rocket Man star previously joined forces with Rina on their hit single Chosen Family and, according to the singer, Elton has been playing tracks from her new LP. 

“I wrote a record during lockdown, which was really difficult,” she revealed (via The Sun). “I felt I just didn’t have anything to write about because, like a lot of people, I wasn’t doing anything. 

“But I managed to do it and it is coming out this year.”

She added of Elton: “We spent some time in the summer together and he has this humongous boombox which he listens to music on. I played him my songs and he loved them.”

The Tiny Dancer hitmaker previously crowned Rina’s first LP his “album of the year,” saying on his ‘Rocket Hour’ radio show on Apple Music: “Hi Rina! It’s so wonderful to talk to you because so far you have made my album of the year. This is my favourite album of the year.”

She replied, “Stop it, no way,” prompting Elton to tell Rina she was on his “bucket list” of artists he wanted to talk to and admitting: “It’s a phenomenal record.

“We’ve been playing a lot of it on our show… You’re on my bucket list because I wanted to talk to you because I’m so fascinated about you.”
