Elton John and Britney Spears have teamed up on their new collaboration Hold Me Closer.
According to a press release, the idea for the record was sparked when Britney professed her love of Elton’s 1971 classic Tiny Dancer on Twitter back in 2015.
After hearing the first cut of the single earlier this summer, Elton John knew that Britney’s instantly recognisable vocals were the perfect touch to bring the song to life.
He says: “I am absolutely thrilled to have had the chance to work with Britney Spears; she truly is an icon, one of the all-time great pop stars and she sounds amazing on this record.
“I love her dearly and am delighted with what we’ve created together.”
“I was so honoured when the incredible Sir Elton John asked me to join him on one his most iconic songs,” adds Britney. “We are so excited for the fans to hear it!
“Thank you, Elton, for having me! I am so grateful that I got the opportunity to work with you and your legendary mind.”
Britney’s return to the studio comes after the pop star shared an Instagram video of herself singing a new version of her debut single …Baby One More Time.
“I haven’t shared my voice in an extremely long time… maybe too long,” she captioned the footage.
