The official illustrated history of Depeche Mode, comprising 500 photographs of the classic group, is being published later this year.
Dutch photographer and artist Anton Corbijn has compiled the collection – Depeche Mode by Anton Corbijn – which offers an illustrated history of the electronic music band and has been produced in collaboration with “the world’s biggest cult band”.
The special collector’s edition is a 512-page hardcover book, weighing in at almost 6 kg and packaged in a clamshell box. Each collector’s edition, numbered 201 – 1986, is signed by Anton Corbijn and Depeche Mode.
In addition to photography, the coffee table book also offers stage set designs, sketches, album covers and personal anecdotes from Corbijn.
Photography in the book is a combination of formal portraits and candid shots taken during recording sessions, performances, promotional appearances etc., in locations including Madrid, Hamburg, the California desert, Prague and Marrakech.
The group has also shared insights and personal memories, which will be published in the book, along with handwritten captions and there is an extended interview with Corbijn.
The first two hundred limited editions, complete with an additional signed print, have already sold out, but copies of the collector’s edition on its own are available to order now. Shipping is expected in November.
