Dead or Alive return with their first release since the passing of founding members Pete Burns and Steve Coy.
It’s been 21 years since the group released their seventh and final studio album ‘Fragile’, but unreleased music from the band has been unearthed for a new collection.
Recorded in the early ‘90s, Tonight… is the first single to be lifted from ‘Fan the Flame (Part 2) The Resurrection’, due October 22, which the group planned to revisit.
An announcement on the band’s official Facebook group reads: “At the time of the release of ‘SBB MMXVI’ [2016], Pete Burns and Steve Coy were planning to revisit an album that they had started to record in 1990.
“Unfortunately, tragedy struck and they didn’t get the opportunity to do so. ‘Fan The Flame (Part 2) The Resurrection’ is the culmination of the work that Pete and Steve recorded over the next four years but which was never fully completed.”
The new album has eight tracks from the sessions, from which two singles will be released. The second is set to drop in September.
Marina Zacco Coy, Steve Coy’s wife, says: “Working over many months from the original multi-track tapes that have been in Steve’s archive for 30 years, these recordings have now been lovingly and painstakingly pieced together.
“The album has been especially planned for release on the eve of the 5th Anniversary of Pete leaving us.”
The album will be released on 2CD A5 mediabook and 2LP translucent orange colour vinyl, featuring extended versions of both singles and instrumentals of all ten vocal tracks.
In addition to a digital release, a special 1LP clear vinyl edition contains the eight-track album and is housed in an alternate sleeve.
‘Fan the Flame (Part 2) The Resurrection’ is available to pre-order now on CD and Vinyl (including limited edition).
