Dave Audé is taking centre stage as he prepares to release his first-ever studio album.
The DJ, producer and remixer – who has worked on a record 135 US Billboard Dance Club Songs No. 1 singles – teams up with a variety of vocalists on his new LP ‘Motions’, out October 21.
Alongside recent single Uninvited, featuring LeAnn Rimes, the album also features I’m Ready, which he co-wrote with a young Meghan Trainor before she found success.
She was this young girl that had never been to LA before and I picked her up and gave her her first In-N-Out Burger,” he tells Retro Pop’s November 2022 issue. “We wrote this song and then a year later, she was All About That Bass.
“If I had known that, I probably would have dropped everything to work with her more,” laughs Dave. “But we wrote three or four songs and this is one that’s been sitting around for a long time.”
On the album, I’m Ready is performed by Kinsley – one of a number of rising stars to feature on ‘Motions’. While Dave is passionate about using his platform to help launch up-and-coming artists’ careers, he’s preparing to reunite with another pop legend in the new year.
Revealing plans to hit the studio with Erasure’s Andy Bell in 2023, he shares: “If you would have told me I was gonna work with Andy one day, there’s no way I would have believed that. It’s like, think about your favourite artist as a kid, and then getting to work with that person… It’s maybe the coolest thing that’s happened in my career.
“I just talked to Andy today, because we’re talking about doing an album finally,” Dave adds. “The plan is he’s coming out here in January.”
