Dannii Minogue has candidly opened up about her experience of life in the spotlight during the 2000s.
The singer shot to fame in the ‘90s with international hits including Love & Kisses, This is It and All I Wanna Do, and later relocated to the UK, where she became a TV staple on ‘The X Factor’.
But being a judge on the biggest talent show at the time proved perilous for Dannii, who compared her experience to that of Britney Spears, who has spoken out about being hounded by paparazzi on numerous occasions.
Speaking on LiSTNR’s ‘The Briefing’ podcast, the You Won’t Forget About Me hitmaker revealed: “When you see those images of Britney getting in a car, they’re all lying on the car around her and it’s just flash flash flash, you literally are blinded, that’s happened to me in London.
“I couldn’t move, if I started to move forward, I’d run over their feet [and] then they’d sue me.
“There were no phone cameras then, so I was not filming them, but I wish now I had footage of just how extreme it was.”
Dannii was a judge on ‘The X Factor’ from 2007 to 2010, during which she mentored winners Leon Jackson and Matt Cardle to success.
Her debut on the programme coincided with the release of her fifth and most recent studio album ‘Club Disco’.
The singer’s comments on Britney come as the pop icon is locked in a legal battle surrounding her ongoing conservatorship arrangement, which has been in place since 2008.
During a hearing on June 23, Britney demanded an end to the conservatorship, admitting: “I’ve lied and told the whole world ‘I’m okay. And I’m happy.’ It’s a lie. “I thought [if] just maybe I said that enough… Because I’ve been in denial. I’ve been in shock. I am traumatised.
“You know, fake it till you make it. But now I’m telling you the truth. Okay? I’m not happy,” insisted the Stronger hitmaker. “I can’t sleep. I’m so angry. It’s insane. And I’m depressed. I cry every day.”
Following the shocking claims, fans backing the #FreeBritney movement and stars took to social media to lend their support, including her former Disney co-star Christina Aguilera and Me Against the Music collaborator Madonna.
