Damon Albarn is releasing a series of cinematic movies alongside his forthcoming solo album.
The Blur and Gorillaz star will drop his second effort ‘The Nearer The Fountain, More Pure The Stream Flows’ on November 12, featuring the title track and second single Polaris.
And alongside the project, he’ll also unveil a series of special, cinematic films entitled ‘Sublime Boulevards – Performance Films’.
Kicking off with a movie to accompany the latest track from the project, the performance footage debuted on YouTube and sees the star perform the single with a full live band alongside a string quartet, captured in black and white.
The film series is directed by Transgressive Records founder Toby L and will accompany a selection of the album’s material.
Originally intended as an orchestral piece inspired by the landscapes of Iceland, the LP saw the star return to the studio during lockdown and revisit the 11 tracks, which “explore themes of fragility, loss, emergence and rebirth”.
He says: “I have been on my own dark journey while making this record and it led me to believe that a pure source might still exist.”
‘The Nearer The Fountain, More Pure The Stream Flows’ will be available digitally along with a number of physical formats, including CD, Vinyl (in a variety of coloured editions) and Cassette. A limited edition 7” vinyl, featuring an exclusive track from the recording, is also available.
‘The Nearer The Fountain, More Pure The Stream Flows’ is available to pre-order now.
