Blur will reunite “when it’s wanted”, according to frontman Damon Albarn.
The musician is set to go it alone later this year with his second solo LP ‘The Nearer The Fountain, More Pure The Stream Flows’ in November 2021.
It comes six years after the band toured in support of their comeback LP, ‘The Magic Whip’ in 2015 and, speaking to NME, Damon says he and bandmates Dave Rowntree, Alex James, and Graham Coxon have discussed returning to the studio.
Revealing they have an “idea” for a comeback, he teased: “Well, we did have a chat recently, but we haven’t really progressed further than that.
“We did have an idea though; I’ve just been a bit busy at the moment obviously. When it happens, I’ll be made up.
“When it’s wanted, I’ll do it. I don’t want to foist that stuff on anybody unnecessarily.”
The star returned to the studio during lockdown to work on 11 new tracks for his latest record, which “explore[s] themes of fragility, loss, emergence and rebirth,” according to a press release.
He says: “I have been on my own dark journey while making this record and it led me to believe that a pure source might still exist.”
