‘Let The Canary Sing’, the new Cyndi Lauper documentary film, will debut on Paramount+ this June.
The feature offers an insight into the life and career of the pop legend through archive footage and interviews with Lauper herself, as well as other key figures including Boy George and Patti LaBelle.
On the project, directed by Alison Ellwood, the singer says: “Over the years I’ve been asked to do a documentary about my life and work, but it never felt like the right time. Until now.
“When I first met Alison Ellwood, I knew right away I could trust her to tell my story honestly, which was incredibly important to me, and she succeeded in that.”
‘Let The Canary Sing’ is is set to premiere on Paramount+ on June 4 in the US and Canada, followed by release in the UK, Australia, Latin America, Brazil, Italy, France, Germany, Switzerland and Austria on June 5.
The documentary will be accompanied by a soundtrack featuring Lauper’s biggest hits, including Girls Just Want To Have Fun, Time After Time, True Colours and more.
It coincides with the superstar’s forthcoming greatest hits show at London’s Royal Albert Hall on June 26 – her first UK solo show in eight years – and her appearance at Glastonbury later that weekend.
