Culture Club premiered new music during their Rainbow in the Dark live stream show.

The group, fronted by Boy George, took the stage at the SSE Arena, Wembley, for their first-ever live stream gig and, during the set, which clocked in at just over one hour long, they played a handful of their biggest hits – plus some fresh surprises.

Opening with a new version of Karma Chameleon, the band went on to perform classics like Time (Clock Of The Heart), Do You Really Want to Hurt Me? and Church of the Poison Mind.

Also featured in the set were new cuts Rainbow in the Dark, We Are Gathered Here Today and Poster Child.

Ahead of the finale – a full-band rendition of Karma Chameleon in its original, best-loved form – George paid tribute to his to Marc Bolan with a rousing version of T-Rex’s Get It On, while sharing a few words about the personal meaning behind the performance.

It was touch and go as to whether or not the gig would go ahead – the show was postponed in November because of lockdown, and switched from the Royal Albert Hall and to Wembley, where it was to have a 1,000 capacity socially distanced audience.

Fortunately, following the announcement London was to enter Tier 4 restrictions, the group was able to push forward with the show, although the crowd was advised not to attend.

The live show comes as George prepares to release new solo album, Geminis Don’t Read The Manual – and, while a date has yet to be confirmed, he has teased a collaboration with this ’80s icon.
