Coldplay hit the stage on the River Thames in London as they welcomed the return of live music in the UK at Tuesday’s BRIT Awards.
The group floated down the river as they performed their latest single ‘Higher Power’ ahead of the ceremony at The O2 in London, after being introduced during a skit with Line of Duty co-stars Vicky McClure and Martin Compston.
During the show, the band was joined by hologram dancers for the electrifying performance, similar to when they debuted the track during an International Space Station live stream.
After a spectacular fireworks display, the show headed indoors as Dua Lipa kicked off a medley of songs with a video from a London underground platform, before the performance transitioned into a train carriage on the stage.
And as host Jack Whitehall took the stage following the Physical singer’s set, he told the crowd: “This is the first live event back in the O2 Arena. It’s been a tough year. Covid has had more comebacks than Craig David, but this evening we look forward to a brighter future.”
The Weeknd, Olivia Rodrigo, Dua Lipa, Arlo Parks, Rising Star-winner Griff and Headie One are also set to take to the stage throughout Tuesday evening’s prize giving.
And Elton John is expected to team up with Olly Alexander for a performance of Pet Shop Boys’ It’s a Sin.
