The title and release date for the first fully authorised Fleetwood Mac documentary have been announced – check out the teaser below.
Announced back in 2024, ‘Fleetwood Mac: The Chain’ is billed as the “definitive” story of the “generation-defining” band, courtesy of director Frank Marshall for Apple Original Films.
It will feature new interviews with the band’s surviving members, along with never-before-seen footage and archival interviews with the late Christine McVie.
“For the first time ever, Fleetwood Mac is telling their story in their own words,” reads an announcement. “The documentary offers fans a definitive and unprecedented look at Fleetwood Mac’s story, bringing together the voices, memories and perspectives of Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, Christine McVie, Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks.”
According to Apple, the documentary will “explore how the band’s trials and tribulations, personal resilience and musical dexterity combined to create songs that have stood the test of time and are enduring masterpieces”.
“It takes fans through the highs and lows of their brilliant career, illuminating the exceptional ingredients each member brought to the band’s uncommon alchemy — a musical union that sold more than 220 million records worldwide.
“The documentary explores what allowed this combination of artists to create singular musical work again and again, and what drew them back together and held them there when every possible pressure, both outside and inside the band, threatened to blow them apart.”
