Claire Richards belted out her 2018 hit On My Own as part of her #Claireaoke series – and it was all very apt in light of the coronavirus lockdown.
The Steps star deviated from her popular covers to share her original hit tune, and explained the song had taken on a new meaning in recent weeks.
“So I know I promised you songs for #Claireaoke that I wouldn’t normally get to perform live…but this one’s going to be an exception,” she explained.
“This is a song called #OnMyOwn which was the first single from my first-ever solo album #MyWildestDreams that was released last year.
“I wanted to include it because the song has always been uplifting and empowering to me – plus the lyrics are pretty fitting for our current situation.
The These Wings hitmaker continued: “Even it feels like we’re all on a ‘long old troublesome road’ right now, if we stick with it, there is so much hope ahead. I really hope you enjoy.
“Stay strong, safe safe…we’ll get through this! PS: keep the requests coming…there’s plenty more diva anthems to come!!”
Over the course of the #Claireaoke series, the singer has covered hits including Take That’s Said It All, Anastacia’s I’m Outta Love, Bette Midler’s Wind Beneath My Wings, Celine Dion’s I Surrender, Laura Branigan’s Gloria, Zedd’s Clarity, and her Steps audition song, River Deep, Mountain High.
