Cher is working on a new album of original material. 

Following the release of her most recent LP, ‘Dancing Queen’, in 2018, it was believed the pop icon was working on a sequel to the project. 

However, in a series of Twitter posts, Cher confirmed her second ABBA record has been shelved in favour of her first collection of original tracks in almost a decade. 

She penned: “DID 3-4 SONGS 4 MAMMA MIA 2,BUT THINK I DID BEST SONGS IN FIRST ONE. MUST SAY LOVE ‘I DO I DO I DO’.”

Although that album appears to have been abandoned, Cher went on to confirm she’s recruited longtime collaborator Diane Warren and singer-songwriter P!nk to work on new track for her latest project. 

“NO BS, MISS WORK, BUT IVE BEEN STUCK. 2 [steps] FORWARD [one step] BACK,” she added in a new post. 

“HAVING SAID THAT AM WORKING ON BOOK, BIO PIC,TYING 2 REMAKE 2 GREAT OLD FILMS, WANTED 2 DO FOR 30 YRS.

“PINK IS WRITING ME SONG,DIANE WARREN YHSTLOM.& GREATEST SPANISH SONG BY, IN MY OPINION ONE OF THE GREATEST SINGERS EVER.”

Cher and Diane have enjoyed a working relationship since the ‘80s, with the songwriting legend penning hits such as If I Could Turn Back Time, Save Up All Your Tears and Love and Understanding. 

Meanwhile, P!nk penned two songs – I Walk Alone and Lie to Me – for Cher’s 2013 LP ‘Closer to the Truth’.
