Britney Spears has slammed those “closest” to her who haven’t “shown up” amid her ongoing conservatorship battle.
The singer has been locked in the legal arrangement for 13 years and last month began the process of contesting the arrangement, overseen by dad Jamie.
Admitting she’s been left “traumatised” and “depressed”, the Work B**ch star pleaded with a Los Angeles judge to call time on the conservatorship, and shared her wish to cut ties with her father and open legal proceedings against her family.
And in a new Instagram post, the singer shared her frustration at people who have voiced their support publicly but not reached out to her privately.
Alongside a quote reading, “Never forget who ignored you when you needed them and who helped you before you even had to ask,” Britney wrote: “There’s nothing worse than when the people closest to you who never showed up for you post things in regard to your situation whatever it may be and speak righteously for support … there’s nothing worse than that !!!!
“How dare the people you love the most say anything at all … did they even put a hand out to even lift me up at the TIME !!!??? How dare you make it public that NOW you CARE … did you put your hand out when I was drowning ???? Again … NO …”
Although she declined to name names in her post, Britney went on to urge those guilty of not connecting with her privately to take heed.
“So if you’re reading this and you know who you are … and you actually have the nerve to say anything about my situation just to save face for yourself publicly !!! If you’re gonna post something …. Please stop with the righteous approach when you’re so far from righteous it’s not even funny …. and have a good day !!!!!” she wrote.
The Toxic hitmaker added: “PS if you’re reading this today and you can relate …. I’m sorry because I know what it’s like … and I send you my love!!!”
Earlier this week, Britney was granted permission to select her own legal counsel, following the departure of court-appointed attorney Sam Ingham.
Former federal prosecutor Mathew Rosengart will take over as Britney’s lawyer, and vowed to fight for the end of the conservatorship, and investigate whether it was appropriate to begin with.
