Brian May is working on a sequel to hit Queen biopic ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’. 

The movie, which saw Rami Malek step into the shoes of late frontman Freddie Mercury, scooped four Oscars and grossed an impressive £650 million at the box office.

Now, Brian says he’s been “looking at ideas” to produce a follow-up to the hit musical biopic. 

“It’s going to be hard to follow that one as none of us could have predicted how massive that was going to be,” he told fans during an Instagram Live chat. 

“We put a lot of heart and soul into making it and no one could have predicted, as it was bigger than ‘Gone With The Wind’.”

He added: “But, yes, we are thinking maybe it could happen but it would have to be a great script.

“It’s going to take a while to figure that out.”

Bohemian Rhapsody, which centres on Freddie, tells the story of the group from their formation up to their 1985 Live Aid performance at the original Wembley Stadium. 

Brian’s comments come as he promotes the 30th anniversary reissue of his debut solo album ‘Back To The Light’, which is out now on CD and vinyl.

Meanwhile, the guitarist recently revealed he and bandmate Roger Taylor have been in the studio with Adam Lambert – who stepped into late frontman Freddie Mercury’s shoes for Queen’s live shows – to work on new music. 

“Adam, Roger and myself have been in the studio trying things out,” he shared. “So it’s not like we’re closed to the idea, it’s just that it hasn’t happened yet.”
