Betty Boo is “enjoying herself” working on new projects with a variety of stars, including Sophie Ellis-Bextor.
The 24 Hours hitmaker returned earlier this year with her comeback hit Get Me To The Weekend, which features a sample of The Human League’s Love Action.
Speaking to The Guardian’s Observer magazine, the star reflected on her new music and penchant for “bringing together retro things and making them sound modern”.
“It’s a continuation of where I began,” she explained. “Doin’ the Do sped up Reparata and the Delrons’ Captain of Your Ship, after all.”
She continued: “I’ve also been doing more stuff with Sophie Ellis-Bextor, David Gray and an exciting rap legend who I can’t mention yet. I’m enjoying myself.”
It’s been three decades since the Where Are You Baby? hitmaker released her second LP ‘GRRR! It’s Betty Boo’ in 1992 and, speaking on BBC Radio 2 with Rylan, she opened up about her forthcoming material.
“Just before lockdown, I started writing an album with an amazing writer and producer called Andy Wright and I haven’t really looked back,” she explained.
“I’ve written two albums with him,” she added, “that are gonna be coming out after a few more singles.”
The first album is due early Summer.
