Avril Lavigne has recorded a new version of Adele’s Hello.
The Bite Me hitmaker released the track exclusively on Spotify, alongside an acoustic version of Love Sux – the title track from Avril’s seventh album.
“I love Adele’s song Hello and have been dying to do a cover of it,” she said in a press release.
“The ‘Spotify Singles’ sessions were a fun opportunity to finally do this cover as well as reimagine my own song Love Sux as an acoustic version.”
Avril recently celebrated the 20th anniversary of her debut album ‘Let Go’ with a deluxe, expanded re-release, featuring the original album plus B-sides from the era, including Why, I Don’t Give and Get Over It, alongside Falling Down from the ‘Sweet Home Alabama’ soundtrack.
The reissue also includes a new recording of Breakaway, which was written by Avril for her debut but passed on to Kelly Clarkson, who released it as a single in 2004.
It follows her latest LP ‘Love Sux’, featuring the singles Bite Me and Love It When You Hate Me.
In a review of the album, Retro Pop called ‘Love Sux’ a “pop-punk masterpiece” and praised “the level of life and energy in every recording – something that’s not been so well captured since Avril’s 2007 LP ‘The Best Damn Thing’.”
‘Love Sux’ is available now.
